Vision – Towards achieving a high-level academic and educational aims to provide a sound educational thought in accordance with the beliefs and provisions of Islam and to prepare specialized researchers in the field of Education at a Master’s level.

Mission

  1. To provide a comprehensive educational thought and prepare researchers that will be able to understand the effect of education and its critical analysis, initiate and innovate its virtues in line with the tolerant Islamic values, in order to achieve both sides of tradition and modernity in educating Muslims.
  2. Enabling them to participate actively in educational consulting services and in the field of education and in various societal sectors designated to manage educational affairs, so as to contribute to the development of society and human civilization.

Objective

A1. To produce researchers with advanced knowledge in Educational Psychology research, strategic knowledge and skills necessary for leading and managing all issues relating to the contemporary issues in this field.
A2.   To develop within each candidate the expertise and skills necessary to be an effective Educational Psychology educator and researcher.
A3.  To produce researchers who can advance Islamic teachings and practice, and benefit from the contributions of earlier Muslim educators in making contemporary scholars of educational psychology with an Islamic outlook.
A4.   To encourage creativity, analytical thinking, and critical analysis, in solving educational psychology problems.
A5. To produce graduates with advanced capabilities in leadership and managing change in the field of Educational Psychology.
A6.   Graduates will be able to examine any formal psychology of education organization and discern its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and in turn, they will be able to make modifications accordingly.
A7.  To provide the opportunity for considerable personal development, such that the graduate achieves a greater level of effectiveness as a professional practitioner.
A8.    To engender an enjoyable educational experience responsive to the rapid   rate of technological, organizational and global changes shaping modern day educational psychology educator capable of playing his role as well as assisting others excel in this field.

Learning Outcomes

Upon graduation, the students should be able to:

LO1. Critically examine relevant literature to identify and conceptualize an educational psychology problem
LO2. Refer to the teachings of Islam; critically examine current theories to come up with a suitable theoretical framework about problems.
LO3. Adapt educational psychological theories and models to suit the Islamic religious teachings and social and cultural norms, values and practices of Muslim societies.
LO4.     Identify appropriate research designs and methodologies for achieving research objectives.
LO5. Conceptualize, design, implement and evaluate appropriate data collection procedures and interventions for answering the research questions.
LO6. Use suitable methods and tools for analyzing and reporting both qualitative and quantitative research findings.
LO7.  Follow appropriate professional standards and ethics in reviewing previous studies as well as in designing studies, collecting and analyzing data, reporting and publishing findings, and engaging in discussions with the scholarly community.
LO8.  Use relevant information and communications technology (ICT) tools in all phases of the research process, from finding and retrieving previous studies, managing references, organizing and storing as well as analyzing both qualitative and quantitative data and reporting and disseminating research findings.
LO9.  Communicate and have suitable effective and meaningful discussion about the research findings both online and offline.

Entry Requirements 

  1. A Bachelor’s degree in Education from a recognized university OR a Bachelor’s degree in any other relevant field (the candidate will be required to undertake some pre-requisite subjects).
  2. If deemed necessary, an applicant may be interviewed and/or required to sit for entrance exams in order to determine his fit for admission into this programme.
  3. The faculty may, with the approval of the University Academic Council (UAC), require the applicant to satisfy some additional conditions for admission into this programme.
  4. APEL entry is for applicants who are more than 30 years old with a minimum of five (5) years working experience in the relevant field and Passed the Certificate of Higher Education Malaysia (STPM) / Diploma / equivalent qualification.

English Language:

Since the medium of instruction for this program is English, all applicants must meet the English language requirement before being admitted into the programme. Examples include:

  1. Having English as their native language.
  2. Substantially worked or studied in an English-speaking country (such as Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom or the United States).
  3. English language proficiency exam with a minimum overall band score of 550 in TOEFL or 5.5 in IELTS.
  4. A minimum overall band score of 4.00 in MEDIU’s English Language Placement Test (MUET).
  5. Any other relevant qualification, which is equivalent to the set standard by the Senate of the University.

A: Research

The applicant is required to study a subject named Quantitative and QualitativeResearch, then the applicant can start the research under the supervision of an academic member of the Postgraduate Studies Department.
