Vision – Towards achieving a high-level academic and educational aims to provide a sound educational thought in accordance with the beliefs and provisions of Islam and to prepare specialized researchers in the field of Education at a Doctorate level.
Mission –
- To provide a comprehensive educational thoughts and prepare researchers that will be able to understand the effect of education and its critical analysis, initiate and innovate its virtues in line with the tolerant Islamic values, in order to achieve both sides of tradition and modernity in educating Muslims.
- To enable students to participate actively in educational consulting services and in the field of education and in various societal sectors designated to manage educational affairs, so as to contribute to the development of society and human civilization.
Objective –
PO1) Provide graduates with the theoretical knowledge related to Curriculum and Instructions making them capable of finding solutions to contemporary problems related to their field.
PO2) Qualify graduates to be able to examine teaching methods, design, develop, implement and evaluate school curriculum with the modern approaches.
PO3) Qualify researchers with a high level of creativity in studying issues related to Curriculum & Instructions.
PO4) Enhance graduates with critical innovative skills to explore and develop new approaches in teaching methods & curriculum design.
PO5) Enrich the students with the advanced leadership and managerial skills effectively and critically in analyzing teaching methods and implementing school curricula.
PO6) Prepare students to be able to respond to global educational changes in view of the significance, centrality of Curriculum and Instructions in the modern educational system.
Learning Outcomes –
At the end of the program, graduates should be able to:
LO1) Make significant intellectual contributions to the body of knowledge and provide innovative solutions to the day-to-day problems faced in Curriculum and Instructions.
LO2) Examine different teaching methods, and be able to design, develop, implement and evaluate school curriculum according to the modern approaches. In addition to getting the benefits from the earlier Muslim contributions in Curriculum and Instructions.
LO3) Conduct creative, innovative, critical researches related to earlier and contemporary issues in Curriculum and Instructions.
LO4) Critically develop and evaluate current teaching-methods and curriculum designs in order to assess their quality and applicability in improving teaching and learning process.
LO5) Utilize knowledge of leadership and managerial skills earlier and recently to improve the effectiveness of the teaching-learning process.
LO6) Identify, analyze and evaluate internal and external environmental influences and changes on teaching methods for Curriculum in order to develop strategic plans for the management of change and the development of new scientific methodologies, theories based on Islamic teachings and concepts.
Entry Requirements –
- A Master’s degree in Education from a recognized university OR a Master’s degree in any other relevant field (the candidate will be required to undertake some pre-requisite subjects).
- If deemed necessary, an applicant may be interviewed and/or required to sit for entrance exams in order to determine his fit for admission into this programme.
- The faculty may, with the approval of the University Academic Council (UAC), require the applicant to satisfy some additional conditions for admission into this programme.
- APEL entry is for applicants who are more than 30 years old with a minimum of five (5) years working experience in the relevant field and Passed the Certificate of Higher Education Malaysia (STPM) / Diploma / equivalent qualification.
Arabic Language:
Applicants interested to enroll in programmes, where the medium of instruction is in Arabic, must pass the MEDIU’s Arabic Language Placement Test (MAPT) before being admitted into the programme.
English Language:
Since the medium of instruction for this program is English, all applicants must meet the English language requirement before being admitted into the programme. Examples include:
- Having English as their native language.
- Substantially worked or studied in an English-speaking country (such as Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom or the United States).
- English language proficiency exam with a minimum overall band score of 550 in TOEFL or 5.5 in IELTS.
- A minimum overall band score of 4.00 in MEDIU’s English Language Placement Test (MUET).
- Any other relevant qualification, which is equivalent to the set standard by the Senate of the University.

Structure A
The applicant is required to study two subjects named “Quantitative Research Methods” and “Qualitative Research Methods”, and then the applicant can start the research under the supervision of an academic member of the Postgraduate Studies Department.
